Clean Water

One thing that all fisherman and outdoorsmen have in common is the need and want for clean water. We want to see our waters and ecosystems healthy, thriving and able to support the marine life and plants that rely on it to survive. We want to see our waters that are struggling be fought for and rebuilt to what they once were. For so many of us, the water is our way of life and passion. It is so important that we work together to keep the clean waters clean and help restore the waters and ecosystems that so desperately need our help.

With the water so close to our hearts here at Boat Dog, we are devoted to support and fight alongside both Tampa Bay Waterkeeper and Captains for Clean Water. These organizations are dedicated to the waters on local and national levels and have become our voices and representation for clean water.

Tampa Bay Waterkeeper:

A clean and resilient watershed is essential to strong communities and a healthy economy. Serving our population of more than 2.7 million people across Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, Tampa Bay Waterkeeper works to improve, protect, and preserve Tampa Bay’s watershed through citizen engagement and community action rooted in sound science and research.

Our scope of work is diverse, with core issues including clean water, ecosystem protection, and coastal resiliency. Tampa Bay Waterkeeper researches issues diligently and works collaboratively with citizens, local organizations and governments so that together we can find the best solutions to supporting our work.

Captains For Clean Water:

In 2016, we started as a couple fishing guides that had “had enough” of Floridas poor water management practices devastating the estuaries we rely on. We were convinced that if everyone knew about the issues, they would’ve been fixed long ago. The solution is known, but has been delayed for decades due to lack of political will and public awareness. So, we set out to change that.

We work to advance science-based solutions through efforts focused on awareness and education, empowering people like you to speak up for our water quality and hold elected officials accountable. Together, we’ve united the outdoor industry, environmental groups, business community and concerned citizens around these important issues, and are seeing more people than ever get involved in the fight for clean water. As a result, progress is happening at a record pace, but we still have a long way to go and we need your help.

We must fight to protect these valuable resources and our way of life for future generations.
